12/7/2017 - 2016 EU budget reports: generating added value out of every euro spent | The European Commission today published three reports on the implementation of the 2016 EU budget. They show that the EU budget in 2016 has helped achieve the political priorities of the European Union, has created added value for the EU citizens and was spent in line with EU rules.
Another conclusion from those reports is that simplifying EU rules is key to making it easier for local authorities, farmers or businesses to use EU funds effectively and correctly. This ties in with the recommendations of the High Level Group on simplification, also presented today, which are feeding into the broader reflection on the future of EU finances launched by Commissioner Günther H. 29/6/2017 - Latest SME Instrument results: EU to invest 6.4 million in 129 innovative businesses | 129 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from 25 countries have been selected for funding in the latest round of the Horizon 2020 SME Instrument.
The funding is provided under Phase 1 of the instrument, which means that each project will receive ¤50,000 to finance a feasibility study for innovative products that can disrupt the market. Companies applying also receive business support services and up to three days of free business coaching. more... |

15/6/2017 - End of roaming charges in the EU: Joint statement by 3 EU institutions | Starting today, 15 June 2017, roaming charges in the European Union will no longer apply. President of the European Parliament Antonio Tajani, Prime Minister of Malta Joseph Muscat, on behalf of the Maltese Presidency of the Council of the European Union, and President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker, issued the following statement:
"The European Union is about bringing people together and making their lives easier. The end of roaming charges is a true European success story.
From now on, citizens who travel within the EU will be able to call, text and connect on their mobile devices at the same price as they pay at home. Eliminating roaming charges is one of the greatest and most tangible successes of the EU. more... |

- During your visit of a project or participation to an event you received a printed picture with lots of European sites and monuments. You have to identify the number of countries represented in the picture and enter your reply online .
- If your answer is correct, you make it to the next round where you can watch a 10-second video of an EU-funded project. You have to identify the EU member state where it was filmed.
- If your answer is correct, you make it to the third round that will take place on Wednesday 14 June at 8:00pm (Central European Summer Time). You will have to be the first to answer a final question correctly to win a trip for two to a European capital to discover EU projects and much more...
